Tour Details
La Mancha is a land steeped in winemaking tradition, and there’s no better place to experience it than at the Virgen de las Viñas Winery in Tomelloso, one of the premier wine tourism destinations in Ciudad Real.
At the appointed time, we’ll begin our tour by visiting the wine press — the heart of the winery — which now houses the Ethnographic Museum. Here, we’ll step back in time as we explore an exhibition of vintage carts and farming tools, offering a fascinating glimpse into the agricultural heritage of the region.
Next, we’ll head underground to the winery's historic caves, where wine was once stored. Recently renovated, these galleries showcase how traditional methods blend with modern winemaking techniques.
As part of the experience, we’ll enjoy a tasting of two wines and a premium olive oil, all paired with delicious local products from La Mancha. For younger visitors, there’s a special treat — they’ll get to sample these local flavors with a refreshing glass of grape juice.
The tour continues in the bottling area, where we’ll witness the impressive efficiency of modern winemaking. Watch in awe as more than 25,000 bottles are filled, capped, and labeled per hour!
From there, we’ll move on to the Infanta Elena Museum of Contemporary Art, located within the winery complex. This extraordinary collection features works by artists who have participated in the Virgen de las Viñas Cultural Contest, an event held annually since 2001. The museum also has the distinction of a committee of honor presided over by King Felipe VI.
After 2 hours of exploration, tastings, and cultural enrichment, we’ll conclude our visit at this remarkable museum.
