At the indicated time, we'll meet at the fishing wharf in Tui to climb aboard a traditional wooden boat and set sail down the Minho River. Ready to skirt the shorelines of the river that separates Spain from Portugal?
From the boat, we'll be treated to sprawling landscapes of Tui and the Santa Maria Cathedral, a structure that dates back to the 12th century.
We'll sail under the Tui International Bridge, affectionately known as "Friendship Bridge" in Portugal. This bridge is vital to connecting the two countries and spans the Minho River. On the Portuguese side lies the town of Valença do Minho, home to an incredible fortress we'll see from the boat. Fun fact; this fortress was destroyed and rebuilt several times, yet still preserves stunning Gothic and Baroque architectural details.
As we continue to drift along the river's current, we'll learn about the flora and fauna in Minho. The riverbed is full of minerals that allow ecosystems to flourish leading to a wide biodiversity in the area. We'll spot different natural habitats of plants and animals on both sides of the river.
Then, after a fulfilling 45 minutes, we'll bring the experience to an end back at the dock.
