On this day trip, we'll tour the surroundings of Lake Zurich, where we'll discover Rapperswil Castle and Einsiedeln Abbey. We'll also go to the Milchmanufaktur cheese factory and the Lindt Home of Chocolate, enjoying a delicious tasting at each place.
Day Trip Details
At the indicated time, we'll depart from the Sihlquai bus parking lot in Zurich, heading south.
Firstly, we'll skirt the scenery of Lake Zurich until we reach Rapperswil, a beautiful medieval town in the Canton of St. Gallen located on the shores of the lake. Upon arrival in this town, known as “the city of roses”, we'll have a short guided tour of its old town, whose main monument is its spectacular castle.
After touring Rapperswil, you'll have about 1 hour of free time to have lunch in the historic centre. After eating, we'll continue our day trip, heading to Einsiedeln, the main pilgrimage site in Switzerland thanks to its devotion to the Virgin Mary.
In this town we will visit its Benedictine monastery, a baroque monastery with four cloisters where we'll see the carving of the Black Madonna, a masterpiece from the 15th century, which is located in the monastery chapel.
After visiting the church, we'll continue our tour of Einsiedeln with a visit to the Milchmanufaktur dairy factory, where we'll enjoy a welcome drink and a delicious tasting of Swiss cheeses.
At the end of the tasting, we'll head to Kilchberg, where the Lindt Home of Chocolate is located. You'll be able to visit this famous museum at your leisure, where you'll have an audio guide in English to discover the different rooms. At the end of the tour, you'll also enjoy an irresistible Swiss chocolate tasting.
After tasting these exquisite cocoa products, we'll return to the meeting point in Zurich, where we'll conclude this 9-hour activity.
