Prepare to be amazed by the treasures Jordan's desert has to offer with this tour of the desert castles and the Dead Sea. Do not miss this unique and magical experience.
Desert Castles & Dead Sea Tour
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Amman and drive to the east of Jordan so we can begin this very special tour. We'll discover two of the most emblematic desert castles in the country. These fortresses were built between the 7th and 11th centuries and were used as defence hubs, caravanserais and palaces.
First, we'll visit Harranah Castle, built by the Umayyad caliphs and one of the most important examples of early Islamic architecture. We'll stroll through the courtyard and rooms whilst learning all about the Roman, Byzantine and Sassanid influences.
Shortly after, we'll head to Amra Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. When entering the interior of this medieval palace, you'll be able to see the 8th-century fresco paintings depicting hunting scenes, portraits of rulers and zodiac schemes.
After concluding our castle tours, we'll head to the Dead Sea, a lake bordered by Jordan, Israel and Palestine and situated more than 400 metres below sea level. The high concentration of salt and minerals in the water prevents life from developing in the lake, giving it its name.
You'll have 2 hours of free time to swim in the Dead Sea and take in all its benefits, which have provided many cosmetic and medical treatments for centuries. You'll be amazed by how easy it is to float, do you know why?
We'll round up the tour between 9-9.5 hours and drop you off at your hotel in Amman.
