At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel and head by minibus to Piazza Armerina. Ready to visit one of the most remarkable sites in the Sicilian interior?
Our first stop will be the Villa Romana del Casale, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here we'll marvel at its spectacular mosaics, considered the best-preserved of ancient Rome, transporting us to the splendor of Roman life through scenes depicting mythology, hunting, and everyday activities. We'll then take a stroll through the streets of Piazza Armerina.
After 2 hours exploring this unique place, we'll get back in the minibus and head to our next destination: Caltagirone. In under 45 minutes, we'll arrive in this city famous for its ceramics, a tradition with roots going back to the Arab era.
In Caltagirone, we'll take a guided tour of its main highlights, including the majestic Staircase of Santa Maria del Monte, decorated with hand-painted tiles. We'll wander its narrow streets lined with artisan workshops, where you can admire and pick up unique ceramic pieces.
After the visit, you'll have free time to have lunch at one of Caltagirone's restaurants and enjoy the delicious Sicilian cuisine.
Having thoroughly explored and eaten, we'll set off back to your hotel, where we'll say our goodbyes 8 hours after pickup.
Please note that the guide will not be able to enter the Villa Romana del Casale with you, as only official guides of the archaeological site are permitted inside. The guide will give you a full explanation before dropping you off to explore, and will rejoin you for the rest of the itinerary.
