There is no better way to explore nature in the beautiful region of Tungurahua than hiking through the Quero forest. Are you ready to delve into this unique ecosystem in Ecuador?
Description
We've got a few different hiking itineraries available in the stunning Quero forest. They all start and end in Quero Park and include an English-speaking guide, snacks, lunch, and the use of Hacienda Hipolongo Cruz de Mayo's facilities. You'll be able to choose which of these hikes sounds the most exciting to you:
Quero Forest + Trout Hatchery (8 hours)
We'll gather at 9 am for an exciting hiking adventure, venturing into the captivating pine forests of the Igualata moor.
To kickstart the hike, we'll hop on a tractor that'll whisk us to the hike's starting point. Along the journey, soak in the moor's unique plants and wildlife; if we get lucky, we may even encounter some wild cows. A brief pitstop for a sandwich will refuel our energy reserves.
Our path goes along the old Toro Singuna road and will lead us to a fascinating trout farm. Here, you'll discover the ins and outs of trout care, and you might even try your hand at fishing them!
Upon our return to the hacienda, a tasty traditional lunch will be a delightful conclusion to our adventure. Before heading back to Quero, we'll take a leisurely stroll around the hacienda and unwind amidst its charms.
Quero Forest + Cimarrón Waterfall (8 hours)
Ever dreamed of stepping into the shoes of an Ecuadorian chagra (what the locals call cowboys)? Your adventure begins as we arrive at the farm, taking you to the captivating Cimarrón waterfall while offering insights into the Chagras' way of life. Capture breathtaking shots of the Tugurahua, Chimborazo, and Carihuairazo volcanoes as you immerse yourself in this cultural experience.
Upon reaching the entrance of the Quero forest, our hiking journey begins. You'll have the chance to observe the rich páramo wildlife, including wolves, rabbits, eagles, and water swallows. Following our visit to the Cimarrón waterfall, a snack break awaits at Toro Singuna.
When we hike back to the hacienda, we'll get to eat a delightful traditional-style lunch. Post-meal, indulge in some leisurely activities at the hacienda before we make our way back to Quero.
2-day tour in the Quero Forest
