When booking, you can choose from the following horseback riding tours in Quero. All of them start and end at Quero Park and include an English-speaking guide, riding equipment, snacks, lunch with a drink, as well as the use of the hacienda's facilities.
Tour of the Igualata moorland (9 hours)
At 8 am we'll be waiting for you at Quero Park to welcome you and accompany you to Hacienda Hipolongo. Ready for a ride through the moorland of Igualata?
Once at the farm, we'll prepare the horses and give you an overview of this route to the highest part of the Igualata. Throughout the horseback ride, we'll tell you all kinds of interesting facts about the fauna and flora of this environment. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled! We may see animals such as wolves, rabbits, and eagles during the route.
We'll continue our horseback ride through the moorland to the Pampa de Guayama where, if we're lucky, we'll see herds of wild cattle.
Then, we'll have a snack and you'll have 30 minutes to rest. Afterward, we'll return to the hacienda, where lunch will be waiting for us.
Tour of Quero farms (8 hours)
We'll meet at 9 am and head to the hacienda. Once there, we'll meet the horses, get mounted, and start the ride, during which we'll learn about the importance of the crops in the canton of Quero.
Along the route, we'll discover the world of the chagras, or cattle ranchers, and their daily life. We'll be able to observe numerous farm animals and learn all the secrets and ancestral techniques that are still used to work the fields and take care of the animals.
Back at Hacienda Hipolongo, we'll refuel with a typical lunch and then you can check out the farm's facilities before returning to Quero.
2-day tour
If you want to have an even more complete experience, this 2-day horseback riding tour will take you through the area of your choice. On the first day, you'll be able to choose between either of the two tours detailed above. Which do you prefer: the Igualata moorland or the farms of Quero?
Following the visit, we'll return to the hacienda to enjoy a Creole lunch, participate in activities at the farm, and, in the middle of the afternoon, we'll have a hot drink at the Café de la Niebla. Afterward, we'll visit the La Quereñita brewery in San José de Puñachisac.
To end the day, we'll serve you a delicious dinner in the warmth of the fireplace while we listen to different stories and popular legends.
The next morning, we'll have breakfast in pure chagra style. Before returning to Quero, you'll be able to enjoy the facilities of Hacienda Hipolongo Cruz de Mayo until 10 am, when you'll check out.
