In this activity, you'll discover all the secrets to a leg of Spanish ham and try one of the star products of the Spanish food scene. Delicious!
Description
At the scheduled time, we'll meet on Paseo Delicias ("Delicias Street") to enjoy a visit to a ham drying factory in Villares de la Reina.
Once we've arrived, we'll make our way to the Experience Room, where we'll watch an introduction video to learn about the factory's history and its founder. The cutting, salting, curing, and processing of Iberian ham are the main steps that take place before it's put on sale.
We'll learn how to differentiate between different types of Iberian ham regarding the race of pigs and their diet. Without this masterclass we'll attend, would you know how to distinguish them? Let's find out!
Next, we'll put on the necessary equipment to be able to tour the rest of the factory and discover how this fine ham is made. Salamanca is one of the most renowned Spanish provinces for its foodie tradition, especially when it comes to sausages.
Again, we'll go back to the Experience Room to take part in the tasting of the 100% Iberian acorn-fed ham as well as a selection of sausages. All of this will be accompanied by a glass of wine made in the Salamanca mountain range. It'll be a mouth-watering experience!
After a 2.5-hour visit, we bid each other farewell at the factory's main door.
